Welcome to our Program!
Kid-Start has been serving Families in the Merrimack Valley area for over 30 years. We understand that choosing a Quality Child Care Home is a big decision for your family. We will help you find a Licensed Family Educator in your area who will meet both you and your child’s needs.

Our Licensed Educators adhere to our philosophy because we believe each child is unique and deserving of acceptance and equal treatment. Family Child Care Homes offer a small group setting where the Educator is attentive to each child under their supervision and is able to cater to each child’s needs. A small setting can enhance a child’s early learning, create inviting environments for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, provide a variety of meals, help parents during the potty training process, give each child ample attention to help create a lasting bond which adds to the child’s security.

When Parents are seeking child care, it is important that their child is enrolled in the highest quality care possible. Quality child care environments have proven to have lasting benefits. Research indicates that children in quality programs have better math, language and social skills as they enter the school system. Child care is a home away from home.

We continuously monitor our Licensed Family Child Care homes in order to ensure quality child care. We encourage communication between parents and their Educators as a foundation for a solid working relationship and in addition, we are available as a resource to both you and your child care Educator.

The Kid-Start staff are trained professionals in all aspects of child care services. We can also help you with any voucher, transportation and billing questions.

It is our pleasure to serve you, so please feel free to contact us at anytime at 978.686.7673 or send us an email.

Thinking of becoming a family child care educator?
Are you tired of the rat race? Are you thinking about how to be home with your children and still earn a living? Or … wondering how to pay the child care bill when your child is born? Maybe becoming a family child care provider is the career choice for you! To make an informed decision start by considering the demands and rewards of being a caregiver.
You need a Small Group and School Age Child Care License if you would like to care for ten or fewer unrelated children on a regular basis in a center or building that is not your home. Small Group and School Age programs could operate like a preschool program, before and/or after school program or family child care program as the requirements allow for a multi-age group of children.
Being a family child care provider is a great profession with wonderful rewards. It is for individuals who enjoy being with children, who are energetic and fun loving, flexible and affectionate, and who have the desire to be their own boss and a business owner. It is a special opportunity to serve families and create a positive environment where children can play, feel safe, secure, and valued and develop into healthy individuals. Operating a home based child care business has excellent tax benefits as well, and eliminates commuting and other costs associated with working outside the home.
As much as child care is a rewarding career, think about the demands, too. Hours are long and the hourly pay is low, start-up can be a financial burden, and lots of giving and being depended on is required. There can be occasional conflicts with family life, a feeling your house is being taken over, a lack of daily contact with other adults, and needed skills and knowledge cover a broad spectrum from child development to operating a business.
KID-START wants to help you make an informed, confident decision and identify other important questions to ask. For example: What type of care do families need? What can I charge? How can I set up my house? We have information and services to help you decide and get you started and we can get you in touch with experienced caregivers. Call us today or send us an
email!
